What is an EVSE Charger?
EVSE chargers supply electric energy to recharge electric vehicles. There are three levels of electric vehicle charging devices:
Level 1 Charger
Most EVs come with a Level 1 charging station. These stations require no installation but they’re slow at charging the battery. They’re best used for overnight charging.
Level 2 Charger
These more advanced EVSEs require their own dedicated 240-volt circuits, so they need professional installation. They charge EVs much faster than level 1 chargers. Some EV manufacturers include a Level 2 charging station with every new vehicle purchase.
Level 3 Charger
hese are the chargers used at home and offices. They take longer to charge the car’s battery, but they’re much cheaper and easier to install. You’ll find
these at your local gas station, convenience store, office supply store, etc.
Which kind of EVSE battery charging station is best suited for you? It depends upon your driving habits. Most electric vehicle drivers take advantage of overnight charging sessions, but if you often find yourself needing to recharge during daytime hours, installing a Level 2 charging station is a wise financial decision.
